I became extremely irratable and homicidal and had to be taken off of it.  I also had a bad reaction to Keppra which caused me to act as though I was on "speed" - I got so happy I danced in the moonlight (literally in my back yard) in my nightgown.  Some people are able to take a certain drug and others cannot. It is a matter of trial and error so do not be afraid to make the decision if the drug is causing problems to ask to be taken off of it more so when it is a decision made for a child who cannot speak for themselves.  My daughter was three when she was given phenobarb and it made her like a "rag doll". I had her taken off of it and given a much lesser dose of it ONLY when she showed signs of a fever as she had fevral seizures which she outgrew at age 7.

I took it and became homocidal. Had to be taken off of it and detoxed. But of course everyone's metabolism is differnt - it just did not work for me.

Hi, my son is switching meds and zonegran was added in February . No obvious
ill effects so far. He is 18 and also takes topomax and going to trileptal xl to
replace carbatrol. The idea being to replace one of the other meds with zonegran.
He also has the vns implant.  He has three  to five grand mals during each year since
2002. Our doc wants him seizure free...so we keep trying. Best wishes and lets all
keep in touch with the zonegran info.
