I have never had to take this Zonagran, but I do have a list of the side effects that you can use for yourself. The only thing that worries me some, is that your son is three, and is taking it, and it is not recommended for children under the age of 16. They have not conducted any studies on the safety of this drug in children in the age bracket. You should probably get him back to the doctor and see about getting him on something that little kids can take. You can't base the side effects of someone else who is taking or has taken it, on those of what your son may get. Everyone reacts to drugs differently. Here are your side effects--unsteady walk, shakiness, sleepiness, dizziness, anxiety, restlessness, loss of appetite, constipation, diarrhea, dry mouth, speech problems, inability to concentrate, heartburn, agitation, delusions, hallucinations, bruising, depression, unusual mood or mental changes, flu-like symptoms, sour stomach, belching, back-and-forth movements of the eyes, nausea, runny or stuff nose, tingling or buring sensations.I hope that this helps you some.I wish you good luck with him.Nancy--NREMT-BDon't take if you are allergic to Sulfa drugs of any kind. Before you start consult your doctor if--you have a history of liver disease, if you have renal failure, if you are allergic to ANY medication, food, or other substance, or if you have any other medical problem.Zonigran is not recommended for use in children under 16 years old, no current studies have been conducted on the safety and efficacy in that age group. It may alter some lab tests. It interacts with other AEDs, Tegretol, Dilantin and a few others, and CNS depressants. Here are your side effects.

Aaaaaak! Hives is a symptom of plain old ALLERGY. Ya gotta call the MD and tell him or her. They'll probably stop it ASAP.
