Need help getting 2 yr old to take Zonegran

Wed, 08/30/2006 - 23:09
Hi, My 2 yr old son was prescribed Zonegran, which apparently only comes in capsule form. I've tried opening them and mixing the powder in foods and drinks, but he won't touch anything we've mixed it in. Swallowing the caps whole is not an option for him and the powder is very bitter and hard to camouflage. Does anyone have any other suggestions on how I can get the med into him? The neurologist has been less than helpful on this issue. Thanks! Nicole

Hi I am not a expert but I have a sixteen year old that has been on meds for his many mental problems and when my three year old daughter started to have seizers the doctor put her on clobazam. Its not a capsule form but we put it in with chocolate icecream syrup and she begs for her spoon of chocolate every morning so im not sure if it will work but worth a try good luck....

My daughter was on this for about a year.... try jelly it works great. Jelly has also worked on her depakote sprinkles.
