Thanxs for the reply Kari. What kind of Epilepsy does your daughter have? They are working on getting my sons levels eventually to 500 mg. a day.He is about 25 lbs.I haven't noticed too much just yet,he just stated on it.A little dizzy and wobbly right now,but they say that is normal until he adjusts. My son was also diagnosed st 6 months. They said his first seizures(2 at 4 months)was a one time event because all of his EEg's and tests were normal.until his last EEG from 3 weeks ago showed generalized epilepsy with multi focal spikes.(whatever that means)I am so hoping that he will grow out of this. His developement is good.I am just praying and trying to keep posative.:) I hope your daughter is doing well and you can e-mail me anytime also.I really enjoy having others with similar problems to talk to.It helps alot. Thanxs.

My 8 y.o. daughter was diagnosed approximately 1 month ago, and put on liquid Keppra. Her seizures immediately increase to 1 a day, with frequent Auras all through the day. I thought the medicine was making her worse. However, the doctor thought she was having break-through seizures. So, he increased her dosage. 48 hours later, she increased to 4-5 seizures a day. I finally saw a post here from about a year ago, that someone else also experienced increased episodes when on Keppra. She was on Keppra as a solo med. She also was having intense sensitivity to light, with eye pain. This other person also had this as a side affect. Increased seizures, light sensitivity and eye pain are not listed as Keppra's official side affects, but they were definately seen in my daushter. She was put on Depakote and 2 days later she was seizure free, with no light sensitivity or eye pain. She has been seizure free for over a week with the medicine change. So, my point is to watch your child closely for any unusual symptoms. Be vocal with your doctor, our doctor did not believe us that the medicine caused her to get worse. Not everyone will have the textbook reactions. Lori
