I agree, I woke up one morning, not knowing where I was, what year it was, my memory only goes back to 2002, I was married to a guy named Joe, was thinking of leaving him, due to his drinking and stayed on the computer all the time, never with me, I was living in Arizona with him.  When I woke up or was told that I was married to my high school sweetheart which I located on our 20th reunioun.  We got married in late 2002. and living in Florida.  I have lost 6-7 years of memory and take a shit load of pills 3 times a day.  I can't work, can't drive and know anyone here but his family which I see often.  I am 49 and wonder why I got this afull disease.  Since I dont smoke, or drink.

How do you deal with this thing, all I do is read books and qrite poems every once in a while,  my husband who is great, will not let me do housework, he is afraid I will have a seazire and fall down.  He has gotten me 2 dogs to keep me compamy while he works snd when he gets off he spends all his time with me.

How do you deal with this?

Living with Epilepsy is a different experience for everyone and my journey with Epilepsy has by no means been a smooth ride. I was diagnosed out of the blue when I was 16 and no one has ever been able to find the cause. One thing I remind myself of, when I get a bit down is something I read in a book over a decade ago. It was a tale of two sorcerers, one very powerful and the other weak. They fought each other and the weak sorcerer ended up winning. The reason he won was that he knew his limitations and worked within them. Yes his level of power only went so far UP, if you put strength on the vertical scale; however his power to the LEFT and RIGHT went to infinity in both directions. The powerful sorcerer relied on his strength alone and failed.I think about this whenever I become annoyed with my Epilepsy and its impact on my life. I never let it rule my life. Yes Epilepsy puts certain limitations on your life but if you focus on what you can't do you will never see what you can do. I always look to my options on my left and right if I cannot find any looking up.Driving a car was a goal of mine. It took 10-12 years of persistence with many highs and lows before I finally obtained my license. I have to have a medical every year but heck I can drive.

(p.s. I wish my husband would do the house work for me! Lucky you :o)) )

tammy there is no real way to deal with it.  it is not a desease! it is a condition that you do not catch.  there are several physical conditions that can cause seizures.  what ever you do watch out for the epelipesy assc. this is a group run by doctors, politicians and other prominate people who need to make it look good for them selves.  once in a great while they will publish things like discrimination sutes  that they won.  this is more of an advertising game that brainwashes the members but never actually happened.

if you have any kids keep them informed of what is going on.  i din't.  even though i found out that i never had epilepsy after brain surgery, but instead a tumor cause by a measel shot,  my 4 kids have disowned me as a reslut of hating my life too.   20 years of uncontroled seizures  and the fight to be a real person has left me in the same boat.  i am almost sorry now that i ever had the surgery.
