Macropsia? Things feeling larger than they are??

Fri, 09/14/2007 - 10:01
Hello all, I am wondering if any of you have had this experience with your simple partials. Does anyone ever have a seizure when some part of your body, say your hands or fingers, feel extremely large? I've had many of these and my neuro has told me that this is called macropsia. I've looked this term up but all I can find references vision appearing larger than things really are, not things feeling larger than they really are. Has anyone heard of this of this or have experience with this? I'd love to hear your stories as so far I'm the only person I know with this little oddity!! Thanks! Beth

Hi elizleigh. Yuck! I too have experienced micropsia only it is more like the Alice in Wonderland feeling. Like I am a speck of sand and everything else is huge. It literaly makes me scream, such a sickening feeling. I have not found much info on it either but then there realy is so little known about epilepsy. Hope you find some info and can share. Smiles!

Hi everyone! This is my first time in this place and I am so glad that other people are actually experiencing the same things I am! I try to explain things like this to my friends and family and they all look at me like I'm crazy! I have temporal lobe seizures which are under control thanks to my medication. But I have felt this sensation many times and, yes, I have described it as feeling like Alice in Wonderland! Suddenly everything will feel real big and I will feel real small. And I feel it not see it. It doesn't last all that long and I can usually shake it off. I've found sites that describe it as a symptom of my condition, but none of them have told me why it happens. I think I'd like to know also. Like I said, I can finally talk about this stuff without having people look at me like I'm wierd!!!! See Ya!
