Colored Lenses

Mon, 03/20/2006 - 17:40
Has anybody tried colored lenses to reduce photosensitive seizures? I know it's really knew thought and technology but just curious as to it's use in the real world. I have an appointment tomorrow to try it out. Fingers crossed. Also, has anybody ever felt an aura that lasts all week and feels like you're drunk? I am going on a week of feeling this way now, very frustrating.

Hi Naomi, Well, the studies are so new that it's not yet common practice to prescribe lenses for szs. So what I am just trying this week (I'll let you know how it turns out) is using blue colored contact lenses (for making your eyes blue) that are colored over the pupil. The brand I am trying is Acuvu 2 colours - I have only worn them today, and so far have not had any szs or aura's but of course time will tell. They wont prevent all photosensitive szs as they have more to do with frequency than color but adding a blue hue to the flicker reduces the amount of contrast between the light and dark of the flicker. Make sense? I am hoping it makes enough difference that I can go into a grocery market without having seizures, if you have photosensitive szs I am sure you know what I mean. If you have more questions, email me because it's a lot of info, my husband even knows more about it than I do because he's the one doing all the research. stephmandani@hotmail.com Steph
