Hi! Can you describe the odd movements? From what I've read, atypical seizures are seen in childhood absence epilepsy(CAE), juvenile absence epilepsy(JAE) and juvenile myoclonic epilepsy(JME). Here are some links to those. Maybe you'll see a description of what you are seeing him do. Hope this helps! http://www.epilepsy.com/epilepsy/epilepsy_childhoodabsence.html http://www.epilepsy.com/epilepsy/epilepsy_juvenileabsence.html http://www.epilepsy.com/epilepsy/epilepsy_juvenilemyoclonic.html Take care! -Spiz

My son's epilepsy started out that way - a lot of jerky head movements & even hard eye blinking, mouth opening - turned into arms/leg jerking - falling down - at first we were told these were tics, 1 dr even cld it tourettes! It was not until 2 yrs ago that they actually captured clinical seizures with his movements because the actual seizure was "lightning fast". He also experiences this during high abnormal discharges occuring too. Have they done a video eeg on him where you can push a button every time he makes those movements? I would highly recommend that. Just curious, has your son ever had strep or an ASO Titer strep blood test?
