I'm sorry that you are experiencing weight gain.Jackie has said in her reply what happened during her experience with her husband.Seems to be a cause of what you read side-effects wise on this drug, again,as she says, they can vary person to person in what they throw up,or at you.
In these 2 links alone,2 say'no weight gain'.
'What about weight gain, since many similar medications seem to cause this problem? "Weight gain" is listed for Tegretol, and Trileptal seems to act like that medication in almost all respects. But I've not seen people gain weight on Tegretol, and I've used a lot of it. If it does cause weight gain at all, it's not even close to the league of Depakote, or less so, lithium. So far Trileptal seems, like Tegretol, to be neutral as far as weight gain risk goes'.

"I am very enthused about Trileptal," says Stephen Schachter, MD, chair of the Epilepsy Foundation of America's medical advisory board and director of clinical research at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center's Comprehensive Epilepsy Program in Boston'.

Yet the manufacturer of the drug has it listed as a potential side effect.A case of go figure(no pun intended )on this one.

I hope these links help,as do the ones on this site,I wish you well with this, and hang in there, take care.

Hi! My husband gained a lot of weight when he was on tegretol (part of the same family as trileptal). It seemed to be all fluid. He is now on trileptal and has not gained back the weight but I believe that drugs work differently for all people.
