Topic: Medication Issues

Hi, just wondering if anyone has taken Tegretol?I was put on it about 2wks.ago for my seizures,but it does not seem to be helping.Has anyone else had this problem? Thanx, maggie

Hi Maggie,Yeah,I took it for about a year. The first couple of months were great and I seemed to finally be having less seizures for the first time ever, but then gradually they just came back and there was nothing anybody could do about it. The Tegretol never did help much after that. This was for temporal lobe complex-partial seizures.Good Luck.Josh

MAGGIE, I HAVE TAKEN TEGRETOL AT SEVERAL DIFFERENT TIMES IN THE PAST---I'VE HAD EPILEPSY SINCE I WAS 12. IT STARTED IN 1968. I WAS CHANGED TO LAMICTAL IN 2003 AND IT HAS BEEN A REALLY EXCELLANT CONTROL AND EVEN MORE IMPORTANT TO ME>>>THERE AREN'T THE HORRID NEGATIVE SIDE-EFFECTS. I'M NOT SO SEDATED AND SLOW AS I WAS WHEN TAKING THE TEGRETOL. LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE OTHER QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS OR FRUSTRATIONS. >>>ROBERTLPC

Hi, I took Tegretol for 5 years with Depakote and last November they had to take me off both of them because they said they were effecting my liver I got a test done and they still have not giving me the results. It's going on over a year. I'm trying to talk to another Dr. and if my liver is okay I'm going to ask to go back on those 2 medicines because the 3 they have me on Tomax, Phenabarbtol,and Dilantin aren't working and I just foun out Dilantin can effect the liver any way. I'm to the point were I just want to give up.
