Hello! I am 27 and have had epilepsy since I was 4. I have generalized seizures so I only have 1-3 grand mal a year. everytime I have a seizure all my doctor wants to do I'd raise my medication even more. when I mentioned the CBD oil at my doctors appointment she shot me down instantly. If I can I want to at least try it and see if it helps but I'm not sure where to start. Right now I'm taking 400mg of Lacosamide and 600mg of  Lamotrigine. Where do I start? Do I need to try a new doctor that at least entertains the idea? Do I need to be completely off my meds in order to start?

Hello everyone! I’ve been on Lamical and Topamax for my epilepsy since the age of 18 and I am now 34. I was diagnosed when I was 14 with JME and have the grand mal and petit mal seizures. I have not had a grand mal seizure since 2003 but I still have the absence seizures from time to time. I take the Topamax for the absence seizures and the Lamictal for the grand mal. My neurologist has had to lower my dosage of Topamax over the years because of the memory side effects. I’ve been curious as of lately about CBD and epilepsy but hate to try something new because they are controlled other than the absence. My doctor doesn’t want to raise my dosage of Topamax because of the memory side effects. Just curious if anyone had controlled seizures and then stopped and got on CBD. 

I have been using CBD since August when I finally gave up on seizure medicine. I have tried 10!  Even though it is scary at first taking it since there isn't really any research on it and no one knows what dose will work for them, it isn't any scarier than trying a new seizure medication. Especially if those medications make you sick or try to kill you. It took about a month and a half of taking CBD for it to start to help. I heard that it starts working after a certain amount of time unique to that person because CBD has to heal you endocannibinoid system before it can help anything else. So be patient. After that I didn't have a seizure for 4 weeks (normally I have 3-5 a week). I have had seizures for the past 2 weeks but I think it is because I have been so stressed out. I have realized that I am recovering from my seizures REALLY fast. I even had a grand mal and it only took about a day for me to recover, instead of weeks or months! I am still on my CBD journey because I don't really know what I'm doing (but no one does let's be honest). My 9 month old is on keppra that is only stopping her seizures for 3 days at a time and then they come back each one harder then the last im considering trying cbd any thoughts? On how much and what I should give her they are partial complex seizures by the way

Hello, my husband has a brain tumor on his motor strip on the right side, he has seizures on the left side, mostly hand (where the majority of the tumor is) and his shoulder,face and sometime his side. He was diagnosed when he was 27 and he is turning 41 Dec.15th. He is a big advocate for cannabis and oil. He has his on webpage and twitter, Facebook. He speaks with many people and works/helps with a hemp farm in NC. He knows ALOT and all of this but he doesn’t actually have a support group or anyone to help with what is the right strain of cannabis to use. He is have 1-6 seizures a day and he smokes to help with migraines and sides effect of the tumor but he is looking to go to Massachusetts to get oil that is used to treat seizures. He takes HIGH doses of Keppra, Lamictal, Seroqel to help with them, but they do and they don’t. Can anyone give me any advice other than Charolette’s Web. Bc he also trying to fight his brain tumor/brain cancer with a high THC strain that has had success in fighting cancer. He will be starting chemo in the first of the year and his doctors have said off the record that cannabis will not interfere with the chemo drug. It is so hard being the one that sees what he is going threw with these seizures every f@&!ing dayand our son is 13 almost 14 and they can’t do anything together without having to stop bc his dad is seizing. Any advice would be great!Thank you all for being so strong and as a person that cares, you all have so much strength and we need to make awareness of how amazing you all are to fight everyday and go out in the world and live your lives not knowing from one second to the next!

I've had Epilepsy since I was 11, I am now 24. Seizure meds work but the side effects are insane as most of you probably know. Right now I am on Levitracetam and Carbemazepine/Keppra. Taking over 3000 mg a day. At one point I was taking over 5000 mg a day in meds. My Epilepsy is located near the Nervous System part of the brain if that helps for any incoming advice... My wife has epilepsy and my 2 year old German Shepherd was diagnosed with idiopathic  epilepsy after he started having seizures maybe 1 or 2 in a 20  day period.the vets put him on Pexion which had no effect apart from change his personality.He was then prescribed  epiphen., 2 months on that and it turned into cluster seizures  5 or so in a 24 hour period, not blaming the drug but thats what happened.I looked into cbd oil  did some reading up and bought  a 10 ml bottle of 1500mg cbd oil Full Spectrum gave him 5 drops twice a day for a week , then up to  8 drops This seemed to  not stop the seizures totally but brougt the severity and length of them down dramatically.I then bought 3000mg cbd full spectrum oil in end of november and gave him 8 drops twice a day.As of yet he has had 1 seizure and it wasnt a grand mall and it going on nearly 40 days  since, so I would say the oil certainly helps  and he isnt on any liver damaging drugs either.Just trying to convince my wife to try the same thing.

And my neuorologist says that right now I have a brain activity that has too much on my mind at the same time. There's a lot more thinmgs I've had to get used to happening all the time. Some days it is difficult to fall asleep without a 3gm or 5gm melatonin.Over the last 3 months I have been smoking just a tiny bit in the buds of a cannibos plant. The high has never been close to recalling any pot smoking back in the college years. Today it slows down the thinking activity. It brings my streaming of thoughts at a rate or a number of thoughts happening at the same time. And it is a communication advantage in speaking to others with only enough to remian on a single topic. And there's no hallunicnation or even close to the high or the getting stoned like most do for a party type of event.The pot costs too much. But this has been the only thing that made an improvement in my epilepsy medicine "recipe."I'd like to know the simple and cost efficient way to receive with the equivalent to an ounce of marijuana blossoms.Anyone?

And, I never mentioned the positivity of losing depression right after a THC bud. And it only adds up to more of the most important issue I've always have is the confusion that causes everyone else to get confused with. THC helps me communicate more explicitly.
