Im a new person and an adult with epilepsy

I was reading a lot of your discussions deciding whether I even belonged here. Sounds like a lot of you have been living with epilepsy along time. I however have been living with seizures for 5 yrs. but did not get diagnosed until this past December. I have failed a lot of medications already but I'm already a surgery candidate. I have been in and out of hospitals in a short amount of time and people have directed me to websites such as this one for support. I come here and I start to read and it sounds like a free for all. Im truly looking for support not for someone to make fun of me. I truly believe that there are others like me that are looking on this site daily and are probably astounded at what they are reading?

I am in the process of surgery.Unfortunately nothing happens fast and of course you wouldn't want it to. Epilepsy is frustrating. Not driving, getting used to medication, blah, blah.....I failed 4 meds and they told me from the start that I was a surgery candate. Sorry cant spell and have no memory of it either.

Hi Leah, I've had e for 30 plus years, was diagnosed when a young child. I had surgery in '95. I'm all too familiar with the weight gain and it is so frustrating especially getting rid of it. I'm just starting to see results on mine disappearing after months of being removed from one medication. Back when I had surgery it was new *grin* but something that I did was ask a lot of questions, even if they were silly I asked them. I took someone with me so they could hear things that I might have missed when the neurosurgeon was talking. I asked about a URL or a document explaining the procedure so I could understand it better. You may be able to get more information like that when you go into talk to your neurosurgeon or the neurologist. I made a document of questions on my computer and saved them. Whenever I thought of things I just added to it. Or if you have a day planner you can write them in there but in the case of a document it is just as easy to print out a document and place it in there to take with you. Feel free to add me to your buddy list. Take care, Sue

Welcome, I'm new here as well, but have been dealing with seizures for years. Maybe not looking for a place like this is part of my denial that my condition is really a problem. Damn, I want to work! My Dr recently recommended me for disability, but that doesn't mean I'm going to get it. I just turned 40 and can't hold a job because my memory is so bad. I feel like life is just passing by, because my participation is so limited. Not being able to control my seizures sucks!
