MEDICAL ALERT I.D.'s

Wed, 11/17/2004 - 14:25

HI I am wondering if anybody else has had the same problem as I am having. My Dr. has told me that I need to get some sort of Medical I.D. to wear. because as most of you know that when you have a seizure after you are unable to remember things that are important like where you are and how you got there. My problem is I have looked and look but everything I find is so exspensive. I want to register with the medical alert system which seems like the best way to go because my Dr. would be contacted right away but I can't afford a good bracelet. I don't want something cheep that I will have to replace everytime I turn around, but spending $500.00 is not something I can do.

is there anybody who can recomend a good place to buy a good medical I.D. bracelet or even just the charms?

    thank you for any help.

I got mine at Oneida medical jewelry. I ordered a gold filled one (around $50) and it came with a stainless steel "every day" one for only an extra $12. They also have sterling silver and stuff for kids. They're at http://www.oneida-medical-jewelry.com/ It's a small family place. Good service, and several styles to choose from. They can fit LOTS of info on front and on back.

Dear Juperee, Thank you for letting all of us know about Oneida medical jewelry. I have added a link to their site on our resources page: www.epilepsy.com/epilepsy/devices_links

Hi- I just recently had the same problem, I need a medical ID bracelet but did not have a lot of money to spend. I went to a medical supply store and bought one of the traditional medical alert ID bracelets with "epilepsy" engraved on the back for $7.95. Once I get a little more money, I'll probably upgrade, but for now, it does the job. Just look in your phone book under "medical supplies" and start calling to see if they have them. Good luck! ~Kim
