Trileptal Delayed Side-Effects?

Tue, 07/04/2017 - 19:20
I had what my neurologist said is a focal seizure around Thanksgiving on 2016. Since then, I have been on 900mg daily of Oxcarbazapine (Trileptal). About a month ago 6/6/17, I began getting bouts of confusion and anxiety. I have a hard time explaining my experiences but it is like someone tazed my brain and it stops me from my thoughts and dulls my thoughts for a few minutes which causes extreme anxiety. My neuro says it isn't likely to be a seizure because these don't happen when I am strongly focused and working, particularly working. But it happens during conversations, driving, watching tv. She is directing me to my regular MD as she thinks it isn't related to my epilepsy. My question is: Is it possible that such side effects could begin 6 months after beginning trileptal? My neuro doubts it but I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this. From what I have read, I do not want to experiment with other meds unless I need to.

I think that doctors are made

I think that doctors are made like "ROBOTS" they pretty much stay on what they learned in school, and it seems like they don't listen to anybody cause we did not go to school so we know nothing. May I suggest talking to your doctor about a med called LaMICtal, If that dose not work, I went a whole year without arua or seizures taking a martial arts class. It was not so much what I learned, the over 100 jumping jack, stretching, working my body at least 5 days a week.  You have heard it before," use it or lose it". Exercise make sense. As soon as I stopped everything came back with in a week. Good luck, life with out seizures can be amazing, always try new things don't let it win.

I was on Trileptal  10 years ago I was taken off of it because it made my sodium go down.I had to go into the hospital because I had a seizure because my sodium went down.I had EEG it showed that I had scarred tissue on my left side. When I was pregnant with my daughter my seizure had gotten out of control the medications no longer helped me so I had to get two brain surgeries one in June 1996 and September 1996.I started the Trileptal  it no longer helped me so I was taken off of it in 2007 and started Lamictal I been on it for 10 years,Every time a medication don't work for me I have to go on another medication.Regina Irvin
