Deja vu

Tue, 04/05/2005 - 08:00

Hi, my name is Lisa and this is my first time posting.  I am 39 years and a mother of two daughters.  About 18 months ago, I had two experiences of deja vu.  After the deju vu feeling passed, I had a strange feeling in my stomach (like being on a rollercoaster).  These deja vu experiences were about a week apart and I believe only lasted a second or two.  About two weeks after these deja vu experiences and had a "doom" feeling.  I was in the bathroom and this intense feeling of dread happenned followed by that strange feeling in my stomach.  After these incidents I feel very "foggy" and tired.  I called my family practioner and he ordered an MRI which was "normal" and showed no lesions.  He asked if I wanted to see a neurologist but I declined because I thought it would never happen again.  Well it did--last Friday I had two more episodes of Deja Vu, once when I was laying in  bed and again about an hour later.  I know they were deja vu and at the time intense, however I cannot remember what the particular dream sequence was.  I called my family practioner and he has referred me to a neurolgist that specializes in seizure disorders.  I cannot get into the neurologist until late May? Am I on the right track here?  should I request certain tests?  does an EEG only show irregularities while having a seizure?  Also, I am afraid to drive in case one of these episodes occur.  Thanks!

ok.1st time here and a little bit freaked out(not a lot...just a little.). In 2005 i was diagnosed HIV+ so i moved back to be with my family.Anyway long story short,I met a new guy (who is still a boyfriend) and 1 night I guess I had a grand mal seizure.Have never had one in my life.Of course I had no clue until I woke up in am abulance screaming at the attebdants cuz I had no idea where I was or how I got there. So after MRIs and cat scans etc etc come to find out...epilepsy...greathanks for that one. Well talking to my neurologist and other people they all looked at me crazy when I talked about the deaju vu moments.Mine come from some memort from my past that feels like deju vu.Out of nowhere I will remember something from 3rd grade or when I was 22(i am now 35) or when I was 30.Well EVERYONE thought i was a loony. About  6 months after my 1st seizure I was moving into a different house and apparently I crased my car while driving. All I remember is I took a left on one street and ended up 3 miles away in an ambulance like i was in a dream. So since last august I have not driven. When september gets here I can start but thats still a long time off.Anyway, I have been having more deju vu moments and also the impending sense of doom.Sometimes the deja vu moments are kinda cool...a lil euphoric and way out there but now i am styarting to realize that this is my "aura" blah blah blah whatever.I have been more concerned over the epilepsy than the HIV. THats a little funny to me but sometimes I can be pretty sick ha ha.Back to the story...lately i  when I sleep I wake up really sweaty and feeling an urge to smoke a cigarette(I am currently quitting.to 1 and a half a day to 3 a day) this has also happened on the other occasions that i had seizures.so in a year of haveing epilepsy I have had 3 grand mals. I take lamictal and I am slightly t=concerned that my dr didnt even recognoze the deja vu thing. What a dick!!! so today when I stumbled into this website(was not loooking for this at all) i was over joyed to find other people who understood the deja vu thing.I really feel a lot of frustration since I have gotten this thing.I have basically holed myself up ion the house. I sometimes feel tracers like qwhen I turn my head too fast and I know it is done turning but i still feel like it is turning. I know I am rambling  and skipping all over(same meaning but hey I am typing faster than normal...wouldn't want another seizure;) done venting for the day.Hope other people can relate other stories and like i said so happy to connnect.()cant believe dumb boyfriend was right and start reading the blogs...OOOO I hate it when he's right.!!! thanks everyong and hope to hear from you all soon.

I hear ya there on the deja vu. the memory is so weird, like you have it and while its going through your mind you concentrate on who, what, and where, every little detail, but its seems to pass too fast for you to try to remember everything. i've been having it more and more since my first seizure back in july. I'm 21 and never had any kind of head injury. I've only been to the hospital for an ear infection and when I was sick and had anti-biotics but was about 7 years ago, not sure if it has anything to do with that. But I haven't been to the hospital since then. I refused to go when my friends called the Paramedics when I had my seizure. I don't remember anything that night. I haven't had another seizure yet, but I know it's bound to happen. I don't have any health/medical insurance either. I'm doomed!

I have been trying to figure that out myself because I have the same problems and then some.
