Excuse me for interrupting....
Christine,
I have TLE as well, and your seizures sound very similar to mine (except I say, "Oh my God...Oh my God"), I've never heard of a mood disorder being associated with TLE. I do know that both depression and anxiety are common with those who have TLE, is this what you are speaking of? You have seen a neurologist, right? While some GP's are very knowledgeable about the brain, most aren't.
I started out on Dilantin, but it wasn't enough to fully control my seizures. Dilantin works much more effectively for generalized seizures than for primarily partial. While on Dilantin, I still had one or two (nocturnally) each month, pre-menstrual or if under major stress/sleep deprivation. Depakote worked wonders for me...you may want to try that one. I never had a seizure in the 3 years that I was on it (but I switched due to a rare side effect). Now, I take phenobarbital...and that works for the most part. I will still have breakthrough seizures during stress or sleep deprivation (not a great thing since I'm a SAHM to a toddler and 6 week old baby, LOL!!). Just something for you to think about :)
Good luck to you...take care!
Heather

Christine,
Tell me something about this Celexa you are taking. Never heard of it before. I have been on Dilantin for over 30 years now and it does control my seizures but since reaching the age of menopause the mood swings have intensified.
I am beginning to suspect that my seizures are manifesting themselves in new and different ways as well. The sounds where nothing is, the smells that do not exist, the flashes of light, etc. Have increased my dosage but the new incidents have increased as well.
I suspect age and hormones are reeking havok with what was once very livable.....my life in general!! Any information I can pass on to my doctor would be very helpful. Thank You!
