New to epilepsy: 13yo daughter

Sat, 02/23/2019 - 23:22
Hi All, Our 13yo daughter just had her first seizures a couple of days ago. She was admitted to the hospital but couldn't determine what type it was because she didn't have one while on EEG. Both her seizures happened while she was asleep. We are looking at different cameras to put in her room to monitor her at night and also something that will alert us of movement, should she have another episode. Does any parent have any good suggestions? (P.S. She's currently on Keppra 500mg twice a day) Thanks in advance!

I am raising my 15 year old

I am raising my 15 year old granddaughter who started having seizures in October.  She also has them while she is sleeping and it scares the hell out of me.  I find myself constantly waking up to check on her.  There is a seizure alert bracelet that I am thinking of getting called Embrace.  It requires a doctors script for the newest model.  Her medication was just upped due to multiple seizures and them lasting so long.  She has not been diagnosed with epilepsy either.  That may be an option fo you to check into.  I am sorry we are going through this, it's scary and I am not sure how to not freak out everytime it happens.

Hello.  Our 12 yr old son was just diagnosed with JME.  I got the Embrace watch for him. While he has not had a seizure at night, we hope that if he does, the watch will alert us.  I am so thankful for Embrace. We had to get him a phone, but that combined with my Versa Fitbit, I feel some what ok that if he has a seizure, we will alerted.  We have have had several false alarms while he is out playing and I like the way the system works.  Thankfully, he has not had a seizure since Apr 10 nor since we’ve had the watch.
