Biofeedback

Mon, 11/12/2007 - 18:27

Hi

Has anyone tried using biofeedback to manage the stress that triggers seizures? Or even the seizures themselves? There is this computer program and hardware called Journey to Wild Devine. It involves attaching electrodes to your fingers and learning to control stress and change one's control over their mind.It claims to use the principles of Yoga and biofeedback It has endorsements from Dr. Andrew Weil, Deepak Choppra, and Dr. Dean Ornish. I was offered this when I said that I couldn't attend stress management classes because of my new job. I am still thinking about it...

Biofeedback

It is expensive, I tried it.   I would of sent it to you for free and maybe it would of worked on your unit.  I have done yoga via discs.  The breathing exercises have helped me tremendously.  All I need to do is take a deep breath in and out a few times.  I worked in a University Hospital were stress was everywhere.  That helped!  I would listen to passive quiet music or do yoga.  Some hospitals do have biofeedback classes offered.

In Southern California along time ago they did biofeedback for seizure patients.  Different hospitals in different areas do offer biofeedback classes.  I was interested in it to and findly found someone that helped me, w/ me w/ my nutrition, exercise and stress.  Seizures are there but, life can be more easily handled w/ less stress.  Her suggestions of  walking have done the trick.   I walk on the treadmill in the bad weather!  I wish you luck!   I have partial seizures that sometimes gen'l.

Thanks for the reply tonialpha. Your letter gives me more stress management ideas too.

Journey to the Wild Divine

Journey to the Wild Divine is a biofeedback system. It is not an EEG neurofeedback system, which has been shown efficacious in controlling seizures in studies.
