Living away from home for college-Alert dog?

Sat, 10/18/2014 - 16:38

Hey guys!

I'm currently 21 and have had epilepsy for mostly my whole life so I thought I was comfortable with dealing with any episodes by myself, or atleast without help from my family. I made the decision to move far from home to go to my dream college. I have tonic-clonic and absence seizures but they have been under control for years now!(I'm on trileptal) just recently out of no where I have started having episodes quite often. Tonic-clonic a few a week, and absence up to a few a day. The only thing I can think is that I'm overly stressed but I really don't know. My nuerologist's solution is to take my license, change my meds, and do a buch of tests which will hopefully help. My family and I started researching seizure alert dogs and I am very interested since I will now be walking places alone quite often and I feel pretty alone because no one understand what I'm going through. I can't seem to find out if they are really helpful and worth all that money, if anyone has had an experience with one. Please share it with me, Thank you (:
