Epilepsy and recreational drugs - help??

Wed, 07/19/2017 - 20:33
Hi, My name is Emily and I'm 19 years old. I was dignosed with juvenile myoclonic epilepsy 3 years ago now. Since then I've had 2 grand mal seizures after being out drinking and night clubbing all night. The first was after just alcohol, however the second was after ecstasy and alcohol. Being this age I'm around drugs constantly and it's pretty restricting not being able to indulge and enjoy like everyone else. I recently tried ketamine for the first time and had 0 side effects and wasn't even shaky in the morning in comparison to what I am usually like after alcohol. So I'm asking for anyone else's experiences with drugs, is it the alcohol that is causing these shakes and seizures or the drugs? Thank you!!!!!

All of what you are taking

All of what you are taking and drinking work on the brain... Seizure medications are to stop electrical impulses from hitting wrong. The others slow down the brain causing a feeling. The drugs and alcohol can counter what the seizure medications have been designed to do.Drugs have been around for many more years then you think. My mother used MJ when she was a ten and that was back in the 1940's. I used it in the 60's. I also limited my use of alcohol. Doing that and not using drugs did not stop me from going out with friends and enjoying myself. It meant I limited the USE

Alcohol is really bad for seizures dude I used to drink and the next day my seizure load would like triple.  in a lot of cases alcohol can inflict epilepsy on people who binge drink and don't currently have it.  Id keep it low on that front.

Alcohol can be a trigger and

Alcohol can be a trigger and have an affect on your epilepsy. E is terrible enough on a normal brain and I couldn't imagine the havoc it reaps on an epileptic. TBH, I limit my alcohol consumption because I feel like crap, even during my party years. I'd rather be a DD than have to deal with it. Also, don't do E. Just saying.
