Anyone taking Keppra?

Sat, 04/15/2006 - 17:05
Hi Everyone! My name is Peggy and I've had epilepsy for about 27 years. They started when I was almost 16 and I'm 43, now. I have complex partial seizures from the temporal lobe region. My seizures basically occur right before, during and right after my menstrual cycle. I've been on phenobarbitol, dilantin, lamictal, depakote, depakane, lamictal, tegretol and carbatrol. I'm sure I've forgotten a few, too. None of these control my seizures. My neurologist is getting ready to switch me now to keppra. Has anyone had any experiences, bad or good, with this medicine? Any info would be a big help. Thanks!! Peggy

Hi, I am on Dilantin, Keppra, and Depakote. I have had some negative side effects with keppra, although it did help my partial seizures during my period. Side effects that effected me were, extreme drowsiness, depression, loss of appetite, fatigue and just not myself. I hope that some of this information helps. Good Luck -yvonne

I was put on Keppra 1500 mg/day on March 4th. I have noticed a decrease in activity, but it also makes me feel "dumb". I also am gettng really irritable, so I may be changing on Wednesday.
