I am going to college in the Fall and I'm really nervous to go having epilepsy becasue if I have a seziure none of my roommates will know what to do. I know my mom doesn't want me going to school in the fall but I already don't feel like I can be a normal teenager with this that I want to go away to school I'm just really nervous that I'll have a seziure there. Is anyone else going through this or has anyone gone through this?

Hey =] I understand where your coming from.... It can be hard... I have been dealing with this my whole life. Just inform your teachers. And your roommates. Your new closet friends. Let them all know what they can do to help you. Some things that help me are , rest... which can be hard... not stressing myself out by realizing when things are due and planning around them. I was nervous to, but eventually it get's easier :) I wish you the best :) good luck and have fun!

I agree with letting people know. I do that at my work and I'm fairly confident people around me will not panic because they will know what is happening and why. Your mom cares and loves you but she will have to let you go at some point. She can't follow you through your marriage, to your job,and it's rough. She only cares. I am told all of the timeabout things I'm not supposed to do because I might have a seizure. I take cautions serious but I can't stop breathing because of worry. If you are doing the best you can to prevent seizures and hazards then you are free to enjoy the rest.

Hey, I totally understand what you're going through. I'm starting my second year this September so I just went through my first year. My first year, first term, I had a seizure in the middle of campus and the ambulance came. I was just so scared and agitated all the time. The advice that I can give you is that: a. make sure you have all the campus security and emergency numbers on your phone b. have some kind of emergency meds in your backpack. (I got Ativan) c: TELL YOUR ROOMMATES, explain calmly what to expect when you have a seizure and what you should do d. get a medical alert bracelet or you don't already have one. GOOD LUCKK!!!! You're definitely not alone.
