marijuana related seizures.. or something else?

Thu, 12/23/2010 - 21:10

To date I've had two 'seizures' the reason seizures is in quotations is because I'm not certain that's what I've had as I've been told, I lose complete conciousness for 2-3 minutes and convulse apparently. But when I come to I'm hot, and sweaty but I can answer questions about recent events. Both times I've 'seized' I had smoked marijuana before hand, my first experience I had been smoking all day, probably slightly sleep deprived and I was sitting in my friends apartment, I felt slightly woozy. So I stood up to get some water I was very hazy at this point it took a lot of effort to move around but I made it to the fridge to get ice and then turned to the sink and filled my cup. By this time my legs were very jello-esk so I sat at a chair in the kitchen and that's the last thing I remember. I was awoken a few minutes later to my friends calling my name asking if I was okay, my responses were slow, but accurate. At that point in time I had been on a generic brand of paxil for depression prescribed by my doctor. I had been taking it for about a week and a half at that time, and immediately stopped taking it for fear that it caused the 'seizure' the next day I went back to the apartment and smoked a joint with my buddy and I started getting woozy again so I told him I had to leave, I had trouble opening the door because I couldn't find the knob. But I got outside and started walking not very well, I was stumbling so I sat down and was sweating profusly. But I took some deep breaths and calmed down. I had quit smoking for a while until the medicine had cleared out of my system. Then I started smoking again, I had no problems for about six or seven months. Me and my friend were smoking at my house, so we went into my room after and started playing video games. Mid game I started feeling woozy I was having trouble staring at the game.. So I shut it off my friend asked me what was wrong all I said is 'I'm just really high' and that's the last thing I remembered. My friend again was calling my name and asking me if I was okay.. This time I had thrown up when I 'seized' but I don't remember being sweaty. I threw up again after I stood up for a while and got a drink.. I'm about 6'1" my weight varies between 115-130 because I've got a high metabolism, i'm 19 years old and have been smoking bud since I was 15.. Without a problem until this year. I have low blood pressure, and i'm not really looking to be told to try medications, i just want answers.. even though the best way to get them would be to go to a neurologist i have no insurance and i don't get paid enough to afford that. The friend that was with me both times told me I should seek medical attention..

Hello @Lisa Annunziato-Wilmeth , I am 19 years old and I experienced my first seizure I've ever had this morning and was wondering if you could elaborate? I believe it was triggered from getting overheated as I had been laying on a heating pad right before it happened. I noticed myself getting lightheaded/dizzy, felt my body having hot flashes, then next thing i remember the person sitting next to me told me I was shaking violently with my head rolling back. Any help or advice would be much appreciated, thank you.
