Upcoming VNS Surgery for my daughter
Tue, 06/09/2015 - 18:25Hello, this is my first post. My 18 year old daughter will be getting a VNS device in August. We're concerned about side effects and if this will really help her. Does anyone have any thoughts to offer us? Thank you.

1996 Diagnosed with "Complex Partial seizures" , lost my job as a police officer, had VNS surgery in 2004 it was an out pt procedure, I had no side effects, but it did not work for me ... so 8 yrs later (2012) my neurologists, Dr. Frank Bonikowski and Dr. Blake O'lavin, who by the are great people and I talked about having surgery. I have been seizure free for 3 yrs and 6 mos, w/no medication, still see my docs 1 year... and continue to work in the criminal justice and law enforcement fields.
