Grand mal to absence seizures
Fri, 07/24/2015 - 07:43Hello my son is almost four years old he was diagnosed with epilepsy in August 2014 at first he was having grand mal tonic clinic seizures and now he only has absence seizures when he's really tired or wakes up from sleeping. Has anyone ever experience this with their child grand mal seizures turning into just having absence seizures and also he's on depakote and trileptal and his doctors office wants to continue to increase the trileptal to 6ml two times a day but he's already at 5ml two times a day. I'm really unsure if increasing the trileptal once again so soon is a good idea..any advice ?

Good luck finding a new doc! Getting seizures to last just a few secs is pretty great. Guess the trick, in part, is having a new doc not make things worse. We are currently in neurologist limbo, trying next epi in about a month.
