Can Meds cause seizures to increase?

Thu, 11/15/2007 - 18:11

Ok, this sounds crazy but... my daughter had her FIRST dose of Keppra today and I think it has increased her seizures! She has these "dizzy" spells where she gets down on her hands and kness for ten to fifteen seconds. If you try to touch her she goes into a rage. This usually occurs no more than five times a day. Today I have counted twenty three times. Sometimes it increases when she is sick. (She does have a cold.)  Problem is we do not know if these are seizures becasue she is still too young to try to explain why she gets down on her hands and knees.

It seems too early to see any side effects given it was her first dose and it is a low one. I really wanted this med to work. Darn!

Seem fishy to anyone?

Thanks!

Jean

Call Dr. Bertrand

Jean, Have you called Dr. Bertrand? Sorry that I didn't respond sooner, I can't get on here at home. Yes seizures can increase with medications and if they do you are supposed to call the neuro right away. Kaitlyn's seizures have increased a few times from different medications. I would call tonight, she might now want you to give her anymore.... Email me if you want, I can't get back on to check and see how everything turned out. emilylouiseb@yahoo.com Take care hun!!! Emily
