1st time and confused

My son is almost 12yo and he was diagnosed with epilepsy last night and I’m reaching out for assistance or guidelines with this new challenge we have faced. This was his 3rd seizure in the past few months and he was put on Kappra medication with dosage of 5.5 ML. Any recommendations or ideas is very helpful.

how much do you know about

how much do you know about what kind of seizures your son has? did they just diagnose him after he had multiple tonic clonics or are you working with an epileptologist/neurologist and have done other testing? it isn’t unusual to have seizures start or change around puberty. it takes a while for a parent to absorb all the info which might apply and it takes time for one to learn what form one’s epilepsy might take. lots of docs recommend B6 be taken with keppra. keppra starts to work just about right away, even before one is at a therapeutic dose l, it is metabolized quickly, it can treat generalized or focal seizures, and doesn’t interact with most other drugs. it seems to be a polarizing drug, people tend to like it or hate it and you can guess which camp is likely to post more about it on the internet.

I wouldn't recommend keppra,

I wouldn't recommend keppra, i have had epilepsy since i was 12 and believe i have tried so many drugs its unreal. Keppra didnt help me through secondary it made me angry and violent, i would suggest telling your doctor to give other choices to medication. I take topiramatie and lamortigine i have been taking these for 4 years and proving my sleep is good and i take my medicine daily i go on like i dont have i haven't had a seizure since i was 21 i am now 23 and i go to uni like nothing is holding me back.
