Hi DaveG, I can certainly not say I have recovered from epilepsy, but I do believe in miralcles such as this. I was 1st diagnosed at age 19, and only took meds for 3 months. I was seiing neuro for migraines at the time, and did not at all understand about the different types of epilepsy. I went 29 years without a seizures that was "recognizable' to me and my family, and there was still quite a hub-bub about the diagnosis until I saw a neuro and after 4 abnormal EEG's, we finally belived. Although I had incidents in the 29 years, none of them were severe enough to have been considered epilepsy, in my mind. I guess I had them all along, and they didn't hit with a bang until age 37. Good luck to you in your recovery. Believe it or not, some people can 'recover' from seizures! In fact, general statistics show that for about 50-60% of people (depending on what data you want to look at... ) with seizures, the disorder is mild and many can come off meds or be controlled with meds. How easy to control seizures and/or likelihood of coming off meds depends on many factors that need to be looked at individually. Take a look at the information section of epilepsy.com for more info.. here is one link you may find interesting - http://www.epilepsy.com/101/ep101_duration.html Good luck!
