Grey Matter Heterotopia

Sat, 01/30/2010 - 19:28
I am 35 and recently found that I have grey matter heterotopia. I am currently on seizure meds that have made the seizures less harsh but I still get them. I have memory loss, confusion, dizzy spells (head-rushes), body numbness, tingling, vision impairment at times, loss of coordination and difficulty speaking clearly. Although I can live with these problems I would like to know other people with this disorder and maybe what they have done for treatment.

Hi, I am 30 and have had uncontrolled epilepsy (on medication) since 2001. Recently the weekend of June 24th I had a small seizure while sleeping that caused similar problems weakness/ paralization in the right side facial muscles, left eye could not fully blink and swolleness of right eye for about 72 hours. My pre-symptoms lasted two day prior, constant headaches, spasms in left eye with fluttering of the eye lid, and pressure and ringing in the right ear. I was diagnosed with heterotopia this month but this is the first seizure that caused any severe muscle weakness, I searched epilepsy.com and found that Todd's paralysis is temporary paralysis/ weakness of muscles due to seizures. What are your sons pre-symptoms before and what type of seizures are they? and also what do your neurologist conclude from MRI findings as to where the grey matter is located in the brain so you know what exact problems are being caused? Thank you  Ambrosia

My 6yr old daughter recently diagnosed with bilateral grey matter heterotopia, she suffers from memory loss, confusion, feelings of uneasiness in her head, aggression, fatigue, tiredness, seizures, slurred speech alot, declining cognitive issues. Repeating prep school this year as she had so much time off last year due to seizures and sickness and still in fulltime pullups I'm unsure what's going to be done to help my baby girl but it's heartbreaking seeing her deteriorate like she has. She doctors on Tuesday the 7th Jan, scared out of my mind...
