Still struggling

Wed, 09/11/2019 - 18:35
Hello everyone I was wondering if anyone has experienced this before. I recently gained seizure control with lamotrigine (lamictal), but I still feel horrible. It's almost as bad as having seizures all the time. I get these intense episodes of dizziness, exhaustion, and nausea it feels like I'm going to throw up and pass out. After I get a headache. This happens every day several times a day. My neurologist is completely indifferent I told him this and he told me to just ignore it and get a job. How the hell am I supposed to do that? I don't know if this is a medication side effect or something else. Thanks in advance.

Angie,I'm sorry to hear that you have seizures and suffer side effects.  But if you have been referred to an epilepsy center you're on a good path.  I was on more than one medication, having serious seizures, and suffering side effects when I was first referred to an epilepsy center more than twenty-five years ago.  Although I had tried eight different anti seizure drugs by that time the clinic had to put me through more "drug trials" to confirm that my seizures were uncontrolled by medications, or "refractory".  Drug trials were not comfortable either, but it took me on a path for answers and eventually surgery.  It was especially comforting to be with doctors who did not push drug therapy as THE SOLUTION for seizure control.  Hang in there.Mike

Thank you so much Mike, I

Thank you so much Mike, I really appreciate you taking the time to comment and share your story I'm going to keep my head up and keep the faith. Surgery is not an option for me (I have JME) they would have to take out my entire brain. There are still options. Thank you. -Dancing Queen
