Tue, 02/01/2005 - 11:33

Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone has experienced some hair lossor knows of a connection between hair loss and Lamictal? As i recently increased my dosage of Lamictal to 500mg a day, and i'm finding that i'm losing a lot more hair than usual especially when washing it. Any advice anyone can give me would be great!!!

Thanks Robyn.

I've taken Tegratol, Trilleptol and now Lamictol. All come with side effects. It's like "pick your poison".I been taking Lamictol 100mg twice a day for almost 2 years. Roughly 6 months after my first dose I noticed my hair was falling out. My neurologist said hair loss was not a side effect of Lamictol. The Dermatologist said it was stress related. So after loosing 30 to 35% of my hair, I went to a Naturopath who took my hair loss serioulsy. She put me on a regimen of collagen powder, a Hair, Skin, Nails supplement containing Biotin, Zinc and Selenium. Also a Calcium, D3, Magnesium, K supplement. This actually seemed to work. My hair loss slowed to a normal amount. When I thought my hair loss days were over,  I wasn't as vigilant with my vitamins and eventually stopped. Three or Four months later my hair started falling out again. Needless to say, I restarted my vitamin regimen and hope to see the same results.
