Lamictal and Ear Rininging

Sat, 03/16/2019 - 08:32
I started Lamictal about 10 weeks ago slowly tapering on. About last week I noticed ear ringing and now it is constant and loud. Anyone else have this? I am currently weening myself off.

You shouldn't in an ideal

You shouldn't in an ideal world take yourself off drugs without a doctor's advice, and I'm not at all recommending it. However, I'm in the situation where I have no definite epilepsy diagnosis (I was told that it was 'likely' because all tests, including the EEG, came up negative after a seizure episode bound up with a whole heap of other problems and they don't know what else to do with me) and the last doctor who I saw (a neurologist but not an epilepsy specialist) said that the only way to know was to try coming off the medication, which they don't want me to do. So ... I try to find out whether I have the condition, and what it is like if I do, whether the side efects of the medication outweigh the seizures or vice versa, with the doctor's support or without it. Or I take quite aggressive drugs for the rest of my life and don't know if it is for a reason?
