Keppra

Terrible side effects for us and we didn't reported to the drug company. Our neurologists said it is normal not functioning well on keppra. My daughter couldn't finish summer school because of the constant blank staring and I lost my job after being there for 18 years due to aggressive behavior. I wonder how many people don't report side effects to the FDA and just move on to the next drugs

I recently switched to Keppra XR in mid-May of this yr. from depakote by choice as I have heard many a good thing about Keppra with no neg. side effects besides occasional moodiness or anxiety in some people.  I am wondering how long the transition period is for a long time Depakote user to adjust over onto Keppra XR?  How long till the side effects go away?  I've had heart palpitations, anxiety, buzzing in left ear, tingly ankles & hands, headaches, blurred vision 1 time, constipation, peeing a lot but narrow urine stream, etc.  All tests I've had are normal or negative.  What is this from &, when will it go away?  Wondering if I have an adverse reaction to a chemical that makes up the Keppra.

I am on Keppra 2000mg bi-daily and Lamictal 200mg bi-daily. My symptoms are very minor compared to what I can get. Mostly its the fact that my memory is now even worse and can occasionally get mood swings. I am still having seizures every 5 months or so and they are currently looking at putting me on Oxcarbazepine but we want to wait a while longer as the Lamictal has recently been upped.Speaking from someone who works within the pharma industry (engineer), it is VERY important that you report side effects to them. Its easy to do, for the UK, the MHRA yellow card scheme https://yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk/, for the US the FDA reporting https://www.fda.gov/safety/report-problem. Reporting to the pharma company direct is just as effective and generally easier. They are legally obligated to record and investigate your report too so dont worry. Also keep in touch with your neurologist. I only tend to see mine once or twice a year but we constantly talk over email where she can make prescription amendments on email too. Its useful because there are no time constraints of an appointment then and I generally get a better response over email!
