Seizures & Thyroid or Metabolic Syndrome
Tue, 12/30/2008 - 14:55Looking for information about seizures & thyroid function, metabolic syndrome, hypoglycemia .... My son is 9 years old diagnosed with epilepsy 3 years ago after having " hit & miss" seizures since he was 6 months old. Recently, 90% of his seizures have occured after lunch at school during his recess period. He is for the most part a normal, healthy, active boy who loves sports, horses, video games etc. But WE ARE MISSING SOMETHING !!! ( us & his doctors) . His most recent seizure was this past Sunday while driving home from my families Christmas together, the thing that was different was that he was hungry & we were on our way to get something to eat, plus he had been asleep ( while in the car) & this episode seems to begin while he was sleeping. This seizure was worse than the last few that I have seen too. If you have any information will you please post here or PM me at jisham@homehealthcarepartners.com.
Thanks so much !!

I just posted a similiar question. I have had 2 seizures in the last 5 years...my grandmother also had seizures and years ago they told her it was because of thyroid disease....so after my 2nd seizure my mother insisted i have my thyroid checked and the ultrasound and biopsy show i have hashimoto thyroiditis...even though we asked both my neuro and endocrinologist about it they insisted it wouldn't cause seizures (which i don't believe...) I would still get him checked out anyway by his dr insist he at least get the ultrasound...because that test is easy and you will be able to see if there are any growths...i am also getting my pituitary gland checked out to see if possibly that has something to do with it too...let me know if you make out better then me...
