Question about Auras and Grand Mal seizures

Wed, 07/19/2006 - 17:49
Hi: I'm fairly new here. I had my first (and only so far) grand mal seizure last month. I am currently on 100 mg of Lamictal twice a day. I have read somewhere that people who have grand mal seizures do not usually have any kind of warning (aura). I was just wondering what some of you may experienced. About 5-10 minutes before my seizure I did have a very strange sensation that only lasted about 4-5 seconds: I didn't know where I was, or why I was there. I also felt kind of strange as if in a vaccuum, I couldn't hear what my friend was saying - or simply have no memory of it. I would love your input concerning this. Thank you, Ginger

hi i have a warning and it can be mintes or seconds.i get a strange deja vu feeling then sensation in my eye then flashing lights.i can go into seizure, with loss of all senses except touch.my body jerks and i can stay concious.i can also go unconcious turn blue bite my tongue and can say the craziest stuff when i come out of it and also while im in it.and takes hours for the senses to come back.my sight being the longest.and days for me to rcover.but im so glad i ahve an aura i can sometimes have long enough to call for help even dial a phone number if im bloody quick then get myself laid safe.so learn to recognise the warning and grab your mobile!and think how lucky you are to have that change.i cant even imagine how scary it must be knowing you have no aura.hope your meds control things for you love fran
