outgrow epilepsy???
Sun, 02/25/2007 - 10:06hi, i have been having siezures for over a year now, and at the start of that year, i would have them about 3-4 times a day, and now its gottne to about 1-2 times a week, or even a month. i have a doctors appointment regarding having epilepsy in the first place, even though im 90 percent sure i have it, and i was wondering if i still had it? anyone have this problem or know about it? i havent had a sizure in about month, does that mean they are gone. The last time this happened i said, oh thats it, they are gone, and then it happend the next day. please help, i dont know what to do!

do you still have sirzures when your on the medication?

I don't have any grand mal seizures when I'm on the medication. (knock wood) Petit mal seizures I do have once in a while but they last just a few seconds. I think I'm alot luckier than most, but you can be too. I take Lamictal, 500 mg a day and 200 mg of Dilantin. I'm about to go off the Dilantin. Up until a few months ago, I was taking Depakote until my doctor switched me over to Lamictal because I'm going to try to have kids. Good luck with everything.

I too did think at one point that I outgrew my epilepsy. Even the doctors thought so. Unfortunately though I didn't. I went through a period where I didn't have a grand mal seizure for 5 or 6 years. At that point my neuro took me off the medication because my EEG was fine. But once off the meds, I had one within a year and then found out I also had petit mal seizures also (which were never noticed by anyone). I wish you the best of luck, but please don't go off any meds until you discuss it with your doctor first. It may cause more harm than good. I tried it myself one time, and ended up in the hospital.
