Night time seizure?
Fri, 02/02/2018 - 04:49Hi everyone, (long time listener, first time caller :-) :-) )
I have had an epilepsy diagnosis for a couple of years now which was caused by a stroke I had in my twenties. Two years ago I had a grand mal seizure while out with my family and since then I've had two more (at my hen do which was super!...) and I also have regular simple partial seizures which are now getting under control with medication. On Sunday I woke up at 4am and had an accident in the bed, I managed to get to the toilet and get changed, and quickly fell back to sleep. I woke up again 2 hours later and was very confused and couldn't get my head together. I was trying to get my daughter ready for school and was incapable. My husband said that I was confusing my words and had gone very pale. I went back to bed and slept and felt unwell for about 24 hours.
It seems to me that this would have been a night seizure? What does everyone think?

Nat I like the happy facesit sounds like you may have nocturnal seizures or nocturnal epilepsy. Yes any or all of the things you posted can land in the symptoms. If your medications haven't been changed then you may need to check with your neurologist and discuss this with them. There are times when dosages need to be increased or decreased because the body changes weight changes or even age. I have needed mine changes many times over the 50+ years I have been living and dealing with epilepsy.

Hi Joe, so nice of you to ask. My son is FINALLY doing well!! He has a part time job and has worked there for 8 months straight, he is going to community college full time which is a great fit for him and his grades are awesome! He drives himself around, I was hesitant to give him a car but it has been a blessing because now he knows the importance of keeping his license for school and work and now he knows not to fool around with his health anymore. He had to learn the HARD way, but he finally learned which we are so happy about. He seems happy, is very responsible and has grown to be responsible for himself without my intervention. We are in a happy place. He is not thrilled about living at home again and losing his college buddies, but we are well on our way for him to come back to his university if he wants to, or get an AA and work, his decision now. Thank you so much for asking! Since he is raking his meds and sleeping well, his symptoms are gone.

Guessing game YES but there are many triggers that aren't on the list and your specialist knows more about them. I didn't make it to my brothers wedding because I burned myself (third degree) but that is when I found out that I have a trigger that is not on the list.
