New here-Does exercise affect seizures?

Hi. I'm new here, my father told me about this site and I decided to check it out.I'm a 24 year old woman with general epilepsy. It's well controlled with Lamictal and I have an otherwise normal life. Except that intense exercise seems to linked to my seizures. You name it, I did it. Kickboxing, step, weight lifting, spinning. I love what it does for me, it keeps me fit and is a good stress reliever. But unfortunately, I've had a seizure while running last year and two at the gym and one in gym class in highschool. I forget to take my medicine on occasion. I guess I don't dwell on my epilepsy. I know I could have a far worse condition-like having seizures everday or cancer.Does exercise influence anyone else's seizures? What do you do instead? At the moment I'm relegated to yoga and walking and low intensity weight lifting. I was planning on being an aerobics instructor once I got to school (I will be a graduate student). Right now though, I'm chomping at the bit. I try to remind myself to take it slow and this is for the best. But it's hard.Does anyone have any suggestions or insights? Thanks in advance for your help.

Bellalee,I exercise a lot and haven't had one at that time. Like you physical exercise is very important to me. But when I first started breathing exercises I had a seizure, it was weird, makes me think something with the oxygen in the brain. But physcial exercise, diet and absolutely meditation has decreased my seizures.Good LuckPS I like the editor's response to your question. Please also remember, it's your journey to discover what is and isn't true for you.

HiI noticed you are taking lamictal. I use to take dilantin and I took it for 20 yrs. I can't take it anymore and I have had to switch to lamictal, which I've been taking for 6 months. Over the 20 yrs on dilantin I knew everything about how it affected me, however, I dont know anything about lamictal yet. So far its working great and I like it a lot more than dilantin. I was wondering how lamictal is working for you? How long have you been taking it, have you noticed any changes in your energy level, memory improvement/loss, have you mixed any drinks with lamictal, or anything else you can tell me? Ever since I've been on lamictal I've noticed my concentration and memory have improved dramatically but my energy level has remained the same when compared to when i was on dilantin.
