Morning Seizures after Drinking

Mon, 11/29/2010 - 14:34
Hi, To keep it brief, I had my first seizure on May 18 after a night of heaving drinking for a friends birthday. That day I had picked up Red Dead Redemption and was excited to play it, so probably only slept about 6-7 hours before waking and immediately going to the TV. Next thing I know I am surrounded by paramedics and being rushed to hospital. So I have normal CT, EEG, and MRI, and my neuro tells me that I have a mild seizure disorder, and since I had absence as a small child it may just be flaring up because of the partying/videogame combination. He opts not to put me on medication. A month later I had 2 more seizures a week apart, both after a night of partying for my cousins stag and wedding. After visiting my neuro again he still insists that I do not need to go on medication, and should simply curtail my party lifestyle. After that I went a solid 3.5 months before having another one, which was yesterday, again after drinking. To add to the drinking I am also a chronic marijuana smoker in that I smoke daily. I would prefer not to have to go back to my neuro because I have moved and do not want to start the no driving countdown again. Again, all my seizures have occurred first thing in the morning, usually around breakfast. Any advice, help, or similar stories would be awesome. Thank you very much, I am really scared to lose the life I love of extreme sports, fast cars, and living on the edge. Thanks

I don't do drugs but alchohol does have an affect on my seizures plus it takes away from the meds. Id say quit drinking. I used to drink but do to the seizures I have quit, my life is more important to me than to spend many days in the hospital and waking up not knowing where I am all the time due to drinking.

Good luck to you

I'm trying to work out what

I'm trying to work out what is happening with me! I've been in a few car accidents! Have Titanium plates in my head! Like to have a bit of fun/ drinking. I recently had two more concussions 6-7 weeks apart! After the last one, I'm not sure and really suffering from something! I had a lot off clear liquid pour out my noise one day! Not long after the last crash. Is it possible? To walk around and do all sorts of things, and be mentally unaware! I can get out of bed dress myself and walk 12+miles before I regain mental concussions! And have knowidea of what just happened! A shrink told my lawyer I had epilepsy! My roommate had epilepsy and when stressed out one night he had a fit on the ground! I don't fall to the ground and can do quite a few things! Like I wake up in the morning and God made dinner last night! Because I didn't and the house is locked! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Same things happend to me. Dont drink hard alchool just beer or champagne not 40% alchool. Marijuana doesnt affect the seizures but when you drink yes try to avoid that. I pratice MMA and I fight so its alright. Just stop drinking hard stuff and youll be cool but if you have seizures like daily basic or just like that just take medication and stop drinking.
