How long do YOU feel strange after a seizure?

Tue, 03/27/2012 - 23:32
I figured I would share my situation and how I am feeling with people who hopefully can relate, because I am a bit scared currently. I had my first seizure some 8 years ago and have been dealing with them ever since. I always have felt slightly strange after a seizure maybe 3 or 4 days after as though my head has released all kinds of memories and I am just sifting through them all and regaining my present self. I went seizure free for two years and thought maybe I had tamed this beast. Of course epilepsy wont go away that easily and I recently had two seizures over the course of 3 weeks. It has been about a week since the last one, and that feeling of released memories and vibes from the past has become overwhelming and I cannot seem to get back to feeling normal. I am very anxious, bouts of depression have been frequent, and nothing seems to make me feel normal, and I am getting scared that I never will feel so again. I am not sure what has happened, I just want to share this with you all and hope that somebody else can relate and let me know they have gone through this and come out ok in the end. Or maybe it is a personal demon I must combat. The question is posed for everybody, how long does it take you personally to start feeling normal again? Thank you.

For me i having that beast you have till now been 4 years for now , what i did know about it ,is that too much coffee make the seizure come more frequently , as i stopped drink any caffeine drinks  like coffee and soda for a while since i used to drink a lot of soda per day can get to one 2 liters of soda per day plus coffee so when i cut it i stopped getting seizures for a while and now i get back to coffee but limited it to 4 to 5 cups per day the last time i had a seizure was about one moth and a half i get that loss of memory but the old ones you know sometimes when my friends talk about something that we had i seem like i wasn't there at all but try hard to remember and u will get it back keep ask for more details til u get it but the thing is what happen to you before the seizure start that always hard to remember when the seizure is strong  that what i found out i have suffered from this for more than 4 years one year was completely without any seizures all the year and it was the 3rd one but then i thought that i am fine and stopped taking my medicine for it i cut it completely i know its wrong but i had enough from it what i do now is i starting to get some reactions before it comes so i start to keep saying at my self it will not get to me this time i am not going to have a seizures specially in a public place it can make me fired from my job if i get one there and when i see so strong u know you had this feeling like so exhausted right before it comes so i run anywhere and lie down and keep telling my self its not going to happen i can control it and most of the time it work sometimes not before it comes u feel like ur head is starting to go to left or right for me its always go left and keep moving left if that happen it start with small move and then become stronger if u let it complete the move it gets u try to control it before the 2nd move and it will stop it just need some focus on it and u should be fine but dont cut you medicine  like i did cuz i know that was wrong but that what happened anyway i hope i didnt miss anything from what i had

Hello, my name is Thomas, I'm

Hello, my name is Thomas, I'm new to this site but thought I would share some of the experience I have had dealing with seizures.I'm 23 years old, about to be 24 at the end of March. My first seizure was back in July of 2010 when I was 18 years old, and ever since then I have had a rollercoaster ride with epilepsy. I have had 14 total seizures since my first one, 6 of them in the year 2014, and I just recently had one on March 2nd, 2016. I had it while I was taking a shower getting ready for work in the morning (2nd one I have had while taking a shower), if I had to rate this one, it was the 2nd worst seizure I have sustained in my life due to falling out of the tub, the 1st one being the other seizure I had in the shower a couple of years back.It takes me some time to get back to my true self, usually 1-2 weeks depending on how bad they are (I have grand mail seizures, or tonic-clonic seizures). I always have memory loss after an episode, my body is always in a large amount of pain, and I am almost always never fully aware of what is going on after an episode. I have been lucky enough to have most of my seizures while lying down or sitting down, however the ones that I have while I am standing up and fall over are by far the worst due to falling down so hard and hitting my head/body on anything that's in the way while I am falling. I went a full 10 months without an episode this last go around, and I have pinpointed my triggers and the signs I show before I have one, but this last one I showed no symptoms of seizure activity (that I was aware of) before the episode. My emotions tend to get stronger after a seizure, and depression does come and go with me after a seizure. In time I am able to get back to my normal self after enough rest, however it all depends on how bad my seizure was. I have learned to accept that I will be dealing with epilepsy for the rest of my life, and to take control of my life while I am young so that I can enjoy the things in this world that make me happy. For me, the happier and less stressed I am, as well as less exhausted I am, the less amount of seizures I have.

I've been having simple and complex partial seizures for the past ten years.  I used to recovery very quickly, within a few minutes.  But they seem to be getting worse as I get older.  I take longer and longer to recover.  I had a seizure 3 days ago and I still feel all out of sorts.  Its hard to think clearly and I feel really overwhelmed.  The worst part though is the depression.  I just feel so sad and like everything is so hard.  I've never felt this bad before.  Still waiting for this mood and brain fog to lift.  Every day is a little better but man, this really sucks.
