Ecstatic Seizures

Thu, 08/27/2009 - 07:32

 Hi

Has anyone experienced "ecstatic" seizures?  I've had a series of them recently, and they are amazing: totally outside the range of normal experience and by far the best experiences of my life!  I'm not religious or "spiritual" but recognise that they could be construed by others as deep and meaningful life changing events...evidence of the "divine" as opposed to neurological events.

I've been told by my neurologist they are very rare and I've not been able to find out much about them/share experiences.

Hello all,  I'm adding this comment just over a month after the original post having realised that the thread is now incredibly confusing and there are some misunderstandings following what seem to be random postings.   You may want to follow the date order of the posts before making comments or coming to conclusions.

Victoria

WE'VE GONE TO TWO PAGES! Just when I thought our posts would narrow to nothingness in some sort of nightmarish infinitely recursive loop, WE ARE SAVED! Speaking of recursive loops, I had a little nasty earlier this evening. I was at the drugstore and the prominently placed logo was flickering. Flickering light, fluorescent overheads, well folks, it was over. A nice little CP. I staggered home. Then the fun really started. I checked the posts and as the "Great One" said, "It's like Déja Vu all over again.". It was so bad that I used the browser search to make sure that I was seeing was what I was seeing. I'm still all weirded out several hours later (or is it earlier). No ecstasy here folks, just a little bit of the agony. Tadzio, I've been thinking (actually I can't stop--ever) about how you feel about infinity. It's the dark side of our seizures. Time going back and back on itself. Will I get in so deep that I can never back out? When I was little, I was both horrified and fascinated by it. That proverbial watching a train wreck thing. I was 3 or 4 and I had already figured out recursion. The boy on the back of the cereal box looking at the picture of the boy on the back of the back of the cereal box looking... I asked my nuclear physicist father about this and he told me it was called recursion. Then I asked him if it could go on for infinity. Then I got an idea. I asked him if I put two mirrors together so that one reflected the other, could I see infinity. He said, "theoretically, yes. You would have to have a perfectly reflective mirror and an infinite amount of time for the light to reach you, but yes. It is theoretically possible." So I did the best I could with the imperfect materials and finite amount of time at my disposal, and yes, I stared Oberon in the face. It was scary, but after that I had the fascination without the fear. Maybe this is post-ictal flashbacks, maybe it's more déja vu all over again, maybe it's just scrambled brain rambling, but hey, I hope it helps. Regards (isn't that from the French, regarder, to see again?), Zealot

And all along I thought you meant us. Not the posts. I know I'm a character. And I thought maybe if we couldn't find each other we'd start replying to ourselves in the hope that someone might stumble upon them (the posts I mean, not us). Solipsists in single file. And what would happen when we reached the limit? That reductio ad absurdum thing? I guess we'll never know, because it would take an infinite amount of time to get there. Like they say in New England, "Ya can't get theyah from heeyah." Lol, Zealot.

Hi Johnny

Haven't heard from you in a while.  Are you OK?  Any progress with the meds?  Don't worry about not understanding all the posts - you're not alone!
