multifocal epilepsy/having different types of auras?

Tue, 01/10/2017 - 06:37
Hi all, I was diagnosed with simple and mild complex partial seizures a while ago and it was said that I probably have multifocal epilepsy because I have different types of auras (epigastric, olfactory etc.) that occur independently of each other. However nothing has been found on EEGs or MRIs and thus my neurologist thinks it might not be epilepsy after all since it would be unlikely to have many different foci but no underlying reason (eg. inflammation). Do other people also experience different seizures but still have only one lesion/cause? My "seizures" have also changed over the years (some types becoming less frequent and others more) - is that really uncommon as well? I thought that even if they all originate in the same brain area the way the activity spreads could maybe explain the different presentations, but my neurologist seems to be doubtful. I'm not sure hwat to think, although it would be great if it turns out that it's not epileptogenic after all!
