My 10 year old daughter has been having episodes of dream like states when she is awake. She had a sleep deprived eeg before Xmas and they've now called her in for a 24 hour one. They told me the 1st one was abnormal.
I managed to get a report from her doctor and wondered if anyone can shed any light.
Main points seem to be
The waking state consisted of widespread beta >alpha frequencies, with posterior rhythms during eye closure observed at 10 to 14/s up to 55uV
Hyperventilation--elicited a slight slowing of background which was more evident over right temporal region
Drowsiness- some infrequent irregular, increase voltage slows transients emerged from right temporal area reaching 165uV
The eeg recorded during waking and sleeping was abnormal throughout
There is an excess of intermittent and sometimes irregular or complexes slow activities independently over the left and right temporal regions, this is evident in all states
The study provides evidence of some independent left and right hemispheric cortical dysfunction.
However it does now show any unequivocal or definite epelitiform activities to further substantiate the clinical suspicion.
