Heart Attack-like Symptoms Before A Seizure

Mon, 03/12/2018 - 13:00
Hello, I was diagnosed with complex partial seizures. I've been on keppra and am currently taking lamictal. A couple of months ago, I noticed that right before a seizure, I experience a tightness and slight pain in my left pectoral and down my left arm. It gets to where I can't use my arm during these episodes. If I don't stop what I'm doing and either breathe very slowly or lie down, the seizure will happen. I'm very unnerved by this because my neurologist doesn't seem to be very worried and only adjusted my dosage. But it keeps happening. Has anyone had a similar situation? How did you and your doctors approach it? Anyone have an idea as to what the hell is going on with my heart? Thanks and all comments are appreciated

YES many people have things like this They are seizures themselves. A focal seizure starts in one area of the body. In your case your left pec region and that arm. For me it was my right hand feeling weird or numb. If my hand started rising and got shoulder high I would go down and be in a convulsive seizure that looked like a grand mal but the difference was I was fully conscious. Back when I was diagnosed that part of my diagnosis was Focal Motor Epilepsy. Today all of the partial seizure can be in that diagnosis along with other types of seizures. \The neurologist knows that they are seizure's which is why they made adjustments to your medication. It is not your heart but it is a seizure. Relax and go with the flow. they know more then you think they do
