Can't tell if my autistic kid has absense seizures or eye stimming.

So I have a 3 year old son that has autism, he is non verbal and for the past 8 months or so he does this thing with his eyes that looks somewhat similar to absense seizures. He shuts his eyes tight for a couple of seconds and then opens them and is usually calm for a bit after that just for like another few seconds before going back to his regular self. He doesn't rub his eyes though. I took him to a neurologist and she scheduled him for an EEG test or whatever they're called. So my son being non verbal, doesn't understand us at all he started to kick and scream which they couldn't perform the test. I told the neurologist about it and she said that since there's no proof of him having any type of seizures that I should record it if it ever happens again. Now the problem is these last for a couple of seconds and happen at random times throughout the day. By the time I take out my phone or a camera it's over already. These happen at times when he's calm or very hyper. It's just random. The hard part for me is that I have medicaid so finding doctors is a bit hard, not every one accepts it and I have to get a referral from a pediatrician all the time. Problem with that is, every pediatrician I come across tends to not take things serious once they find out my son has autism. I'm going to keep trying with doctors, but what do you guys think? Being over concerned here? Sounds more like eye stimming with autistic kids?

What I would be pointing out

What I would be pointing out to any doc is that people on the spectrum have a higher chance of having epilepsy (something like ~15%) so this makes it more important to get checked out.

Hello, you probably got more

Hello, you probably got more help on this already,, but I just saw your post and I have some thoughts. Check out eyelid myoclonia with absence. My daughter (now 14) is also on the spectrum and was diagnosed with absence seizures since age two, but in recent years this has changed (too much to go into here), and a  recent prolonged video EEG helped diagnose the eyelid myoclonia. She can have the eye closing/fluttering without absence, too. When not in absence, the doctor said there were abnormal discharges when her eyes closed.
