New book~Pynchon's "Against the Day"

has anyone ever read other novels by Thomas Pynchon? Like "V", "Gravity's Rainbow" . It is classified under SCi-fi /FAntasy genre, I want to buy it but it's expensive, I was hoping if someone here could tell me how this author is?

If you are a bookworm/book collector it will be your new best friend (or enemy!)
