IM a dj who lives in essex and have been holding my own events for four years or so, I have found out that a few of my friends/family have had epilepsy for years and i never knew of this fact. I had a person come up to me asking if i could hold an event for epilepsy people and to be honest i want to give it ago, But i do admit the only thing holding me up on this project is that i know very little about this, If anyone could help me with some facts about epilepsy and loud music/lights or anything else i should know then please get in touch with me

Nice thing you are doing. NO blinking lights at all. For there are some people who are photo sensivetive to lights and wil cause a seizures. And the disco ball may be a problem too. Some people are sensetive to loud music, but not sure.Lisa Epilepsy Approach Support Group

Most of what you should worry about isabsolutely no strobes, no disco balls, no blinking lights at all. Also, have a flexible music line up in case someone has a problem with a certain song. When I go out, I don't go to clubs of course because it seems like in order to have a club permit you have to have strobe lights installed. I do go to pool halls and bars with live bands playing and haven't had a problem with that. Definitely run dat riddim if you feel comfortable with the idea, if not then don't feel guilty about not holding the event. Good luck :)
