Myoclonus jerks?

Sat, 02/10/2018 - 15:07
My son is 6 years old. He was diagnosed with epilepsy at 9 months when everything started with infantile spasms. It has progressed to Lennox gastaut. He is on several meds. Onfi, vimpat, sabril and cbd oil..we have went from 80 + a day to anywhere from 5-20. Well 3x since new years eve he has woken up arpund 10 or 11 and doing these weird jerks/twitches it mainly involves his head eyes and right arm. His eyes still react when we us a light and he will smile some 2 of the times it lasted til about 4 in the morning and stopped as quick as it started We did do diastat because we didn't know what it was Diastat did nothing and didnt even make him sleepy. Well yesterday he did the same thing but when he woke back up at 5am it started again. And didn't stop til 5 or so that evening. Again today he has stsrted it..it began about 11 this morning and he is still doing it..i have sent his neuro several videos but he does not believe these are seizures. He thinks these are myoclonus jerks/spasms. We did start clonozapam yesterday evening for 6 days to see if it will help and there was some.other stuff going on yesterday where we felt he may be getting sick. Anyway does anyone have any experience with.myoclonus jerks? Would they last this lo g?

You need to call his

You need to call his neurologist and tell them what is happening. myoclonus jerks  can be myoclonic seizures which do not last long. But if they do they can cluster which can lead to status epilepticus. If the dosages haven't been changed in a period of time that might be all that needs to be done. Generally size age and weight are taken into the picture and if those have changes then dosages may need to be in creased.
