Ways to tell that you won't have a seizure?

Fri, 05/05/2017 - 05:45
Due to medication changes, I've been having more frequent seizures, and when that happens I tend to become very anxious and paranoid about having seizures. I know how it feels when a seizure is coming on, and usually I have enough time to take an ativan to help control it, but that doesn't stop me from being paranoid with any feeling out of the ordinary despite it never actually being a warning sign. It's getting so bad that even a sore finger on the seizure-prone side of my body causes me to want to stay in bed all day in fear of a seizure. My question is, does anybody have any coping ways to remind themselves that "no, this isn't a seizure, I'm just tired, hungry, sore, etc."? This is taking a huge toll on me mentally and any advice helps, thanks!

Hi, i can't specifically

Hi, i can't specifically answer your question, but i have a similar post on this site about NOT letting epilepsy control your life. Do everything your Nero/Doc tells you to do and just LIVE LIFE ! You can actually induce yourself into having seizures by consistently thinking about your epilepsy all of the time. You are basically stressing yourself into having seizures. Believe me i learned the hard way ! Now i have control over my epilepsy not vice versa. Be safe, follow all medical instructions and as the Mafia say "Forget about it". Hope that helps you some, good luck and have fun !Samuel C.

Yes many people do have the

Yes many people do have the answer to your question. It is "Using common sense" Research can help but if the information obtained isn't used with common sense then it is used wrong.,, Think some do all seizures feel the same? Now think about what you have been doing. Anything that might remotely fall into a part or type of seizure leads you down one path. That path lets epilepsy control you. Rather then letting you control your epilepsy.Using common sense if a person has had a heart attack and eats out and is hit with gas. Does he think automatically I'm having a heart attack? Or doews he use common sense and think of the different things that can cause a gas build up in his stomach. It could have been the food from the new Italian or Mexican food restaurant they ate at, By doing that he is controlling his heart condition and not letting his heart condition control him

Cannabis has helped me with

Cannabis has helped me with some of those types of symptoms. It can help with relaxing, stress, pain, sleep, and taking the edge off from the paranoia we are taught to have by Drs and family and friends of the constant looming disaster of having a seizure of any kind at any time for any reason and we could die or kill someone else accidentally and when we do have a seizure it is our fault because of something we did or didn't do... and then people wonder why we are nervous? Some people are lucky and can basically cure their epilepsy with cannabis but unfortunately not me. It can still help with side effects from Rx's and the physical and mental effects from the seizures themselves. If it does nothing more than help you relax and "forget" the medical problems that trouble you even for just a few minutes, that is a very valuable thing and can help you get out of bed or get out of the house etc. Some people would call that recreational drug use and look down on it, if so 99% of Pharmaceuticals are recreational drugs and nothing more. It is not addictive or habit forming and is not a carcinogen if you don't smoke it. Vaporize it or eat it or use it topically. Indica is better for sleep/pain/relaxing/mania and Sativas are better for depression and stimulating energy and activity. Do some research and ask around. Some CBD oil is good but most of it is made from industrial hemp and extracted in anything but a medical grade process. Cannabis sativa is more medicinal than hemp. Start very small and try different strains to see what works for you.
