Loss of Marriage

Tue, 02/21/2017 - 15:26
I am just looking for some support from anyone who has lost a marriage due to epilepsy. I have nocturnal seizures that we cant get under control and its has sleep deprived my wife for 4 years. This past weekend she asked for a separation bc/she couldn't go sleepless anymore. We went to see my neuro recently and told us I am not a candidate for surgery. This means drug after drug until we hope one works and I don't build a resistance like I did to the lamotrigine. It really was the last domino to fall and she said she couldn't take this journey with me anymore. Part of it too was she did not want to have a child with a man who was having seizures at night. That she would be constantly scared something might happen and I hurt the child. I feel robbed of a fantastic life. We love each other so much. We are so compatible. We each talked about how much we were going to miss our joint adventures. We traveled to far off places and traveled so well together. I'm so angry at this epilepsy for taking my life and my wife. Has anyone had this experience? I would be interested to know how you came out the other side. I am having a hard time seeing how someone else would want to go through this with me.
